The Hunting Stars

Renewed came the rain from summer’s long clasp
Casting onto me cold sheets of crystal
Weighing heavily as those old daydreams
Where men became light cascaded outward

Between stars of twilight beyond earth’s grasp
Placating desires of the dismal
They would shine with malevolent gray beams
Dragging leaden heels down at time’s regard

Lucent globs of clay hugging exposed skin
Absconding the warmth like good lost to sin
Tethers from unknown space bind withered bone
Finding each akin, the gathered and lone

But the hunter latched ichor to my eye
Giving sight to the horror of gray sky
